30 May 2007--GSA has donated sports equipment in support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency's (JICA) overseas programs. GSA's Chairman, Yuichiro Miura, personally handed a manifest of the equipment to JICA President, Sadako Ogata, at a presentation ceremony in Tokyo.
JICA collects essential goods in Japan and distributes them through voluntary groups around the world in their 'Smile for All in the World' program. GSA has collected tennis, baseball and other equipment from donor organizations, such as Bridgestone Sports KK and Mega Sports Co. Ltd.
GSA Executive Director, Tatsuo Okada explained to Ms. Ogata, GSA's philosophy that sport is something that can be enjoyed globally, regardless of race or national borders, and GSA is working through its teams to promote sport and the concepts of 'Fairplay' and 'Eco-play'.
In response Ms. Ogata talked about the work that JICA supporters such as former pro tennis player, Kimiko Date and former pro soccer player, Tsuyoshi Kitazawa, are doing to promote sports exchange in developing countries.
Both JICA and GSA reaffirmed their desire to continue and develop their fruitful partnership.
