Since 2000 GSA has been sending used tennis balls to schools around Japan, where they are put on the bottom of desks and chairs to reduce noise and create a better learning atmosphere.
In the summer of 2006, GSA topped the 2 million mark and a special commemoration ceremony was held on 4 September at Kojimachi Primary School in Chiyoda ward, Tokyo as the 2-millionth tennis ball was handed over.
Special guests were former pro tennis player and GSA Navigator, Shuzo Matsuoka, and GSA Executive Director, Tatsuo Okada.
The school has so far received about 3000 tennis balls from the program, and after signing the 2 millionth ball, Shuzo presented it to one of the students.
