The Ariegeoise is a difficult Cyclosportive event and all the participants know it as they enter the Tarascon Room in Ariege to pick up their ID package and racing jersey.
The Ariegeoise models itself on its older sister the Ardechoise, albeit in a more modest form, with three routes on offer, two of which are subject to timing and classification. However, the hopes of the organizers to expand the event seem likely to be realized as the event grows by 8-10 percent a year.
The Ariegeoise is also the French leg of the UCI Golden Bike Series, the 12th test of the "Trophee Label d'Or" and the partner of the Quebrantahuesos in the Trans Pyrenees Trophy. With 3450 riders taking part in 2006, the event set a new record.until next year!
