Fusako Hojo of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is establishing the 27th GSA Team in Bangladesh, where she has been dispatched as a tennis coach. The first event the GSA Team will get involved in will be a tennis workshop on 8th March involving Japanese NGOs and national sport colleges. Children living in nearby slums will be invited along for tennis lessons and the event will include discussions on the future of the planet and the environmental problems we face today.
GSA is planning to support these activities and the first step will be to send a shipment of tennis rackets kindly donated by Bridgestone Corporation. GSA has been regularly collecting and donating sports equipment to developing countries since 2004 with the donation of equipment to children living in the slums around Nairobi, Kenya. Sharing sport equipment across borders is part of GSA's Sport-Eco.Net program that aims to promote the "reduction, reuse and recycling" of sport equipment.
