GSA Executive Director, Tatsuo Okada was one of the 400 participants from 70 countries that attended the 2nd Magglingen Conference on Sport and Development in Magglingen, Switzerland on 4-6 December 2005.
Dr. Okada was there to report on the Sports Summit for the Environment (SSE) 2005, one of the events that took place as part of the International Year for Sports and Physical Education (IYSPE) and to present an official report of the event to Mr. Adolf Ogi, UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace.
Dr. Okada also took part in a debate held on the power of sport that included sports figure such as tennis champion Boris Becker and Olympic gold-medallist in speed skating Johann Olav Koss. The debate was filmed by the BBC and will be broadcast in April 2006 to 300 million viewers.
