In its bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, the city of Madrid has agreed to fly the Ecoflag throughout the city as part of its environmental campaign.
GSA Executive Director, Tatsuo Okada was in Madrid at the beginning of September to outline the objectives of the Ecoflag Movement, the result of which was to forge a partnership with the Madrid Olympic Bid Committee, the establishment of GSA Madrid and an agreement to fly the Ecoflag throughout the city as part of a citywide environmental campaign.
There was also a commitment to promote the Ecoflag Movement among the 14 Universities of Physical Education in the city. As a nation with a strong sporting history and one of the best football leagues in the world, the move should have a positive influence on the key sporting players of tomorrow.
